Community Partnership FAQ
Ok, so WTF is this Community Partnership program, anyway?
The Community Partnership program is our way of giving back to the community and advancing our commitment to the idea that yoga should be accessible to everyone. We chose a small group of local businesses and organizations that help make Portland the kind of city people want to live in. Whether that's through feeding people, creating beautiful spaces, supporting artists, caring for animals, advocating for your community, or simply being a great place to work, we believe the people behind that work deserve access to movement and rest.
Look, shit is expensive. Access to the “health and wellness industry” can be difficult if not impossible for the people who need it most — hospitality, retail, and nonprofit workers. The people who spend the most time on their feet, taking care of others, rarely have the means to access rest, movement, and self care. Before opening Eight Limbs, Justin worked in the restaurant industry and remembers all to well how hard it can be to find the time or the money to even take a yoga class, let alone afford access to healthcare, nutritious food, and quality rest. While we won’t be changing the broken American healthcare system anytime soon, the least we can do is help some people afford yoga.
Where did this idea come from?
Why not? Honestly, the long and short of it is: we just think you're cool. In one way or another, we believe your company’s values aligns with our own. You make Portland a better place to live through the work you do, and this is our way of saying thank you and showing a little appreciation. You treat your employees well, you stand up for the kinds of things we believe in, and you do your part to make this community better, happier, safer, and more fun. You deserve it.
Why us?
Pretty much just “keep doing what you’re doing” — literally, that’s it. If you're an employer being included here, you are not obligated in any way to do anything. You don’t have to buy anything or commit to anything. All you have to do is share the link with your staff and let them know they have access to discounted memberships at our studio. It’s like an employee benefit you get just for being cool. Like, for real: we don’t expect anything from you. Just keep doing what you’re doing: being cool, treating people who work for you well, and making Portland great. That’s all.
What are our obligations here?
What do I get for being a Community Partner?
Bragging rights, and access to discounted rates. A Community Partner Unlimited Membership is $115 (reg. $129) and a 10-class pack is $170 (reg. $190). Again, there’s no obligation required here. If you like yoga, sign up. If you don’t, then don’t sign up. But we’ll still offer it to your employer in case any of your co-workers decide they’re interested.
We get to share our studio and our practice with like-minded folks. We get to do yoga with people who need it, and feel good offering sustainable, affordable rates. Honestly, that’s more than enough for us.
What do you get out of it?
