Fun with FF&E: or, how to build a yoga studio in 30 days

Well hello again, friends. If you’ve been past the corner of 23rd and Hawthorne lately, you may have noticed a few changes.

“I saw the sign, and it opened up my eyes. I saw the sign!” Auspicious words by Swedish pop group, Ace of Base.

And, if you happened to stroll down 23rd, a little bit closer to our spot, you might have seen this in our window:

All that glitters is gold(leaf).

Nothing says “this is really happening” like seeing your name on the side of a building. What a wild feeling!

First off, we should take a moment to give a shout out and a heartfelt thank you to Raine, of Thank You Lettering Co. That man is a genius! If you’re ever in the market for hand-painted sign work, we can’t recommend him highly enough. You don’t even have to take our word for it, you can spot his work all around town!

Justin has known Raine for years now. Pre-pandemic, they both worked at a restaurant on top of a hotel in downtown Portland. It was…an experience. But even then, back before he transitioned to doing this type of work full time, and long before Eight Limbs was even a whisper of an idea, Justin knew Raine was super talented and always held onto the idea that he’d want to work with him if he ever had a chance. When that time came, and he called him up to see if he was interested in doing the sign work for us, he jumped at the idea and totally blew our expectations away.

This is exactly the kind of community collaboration Eight Limbs is all about. It’s often said that Portland is a small town, and in many ways, that’s true. You see familiar faces everywhere, and so the opportunity for cross over is almost limitless. Eight Limbs is all about connection, and when paths cross and opportunities arise, we love getting to explore those together. You never know when someone you worked with at a restaurant years ago might be exactly who you need to help you on your journey today!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know we’re hard at work getting things ready to open. Shockingly enough, we’re pretty much on track with that plan we laid out for you earlier (*knocks on wood*), and expect to open the first week of July. In the meantime, we’ve launched our July pricing, and you can now sign up for memberships and purchase class credits that you can use as soon as the schedule goes live. We plan to get that posted by the end of next week, so stay tuned for that to drop very soon! If you’ve already purchased a Founding Membership, your profile will already be pre-loaded with that and ready to activate as soon as you sign up for classes.
